She said we had to attend if we lived under her roof. Even if our worship attire had to be recycled, she insisted on our involvement. She talked with other church members about our potential. Mom was very proud of us and of the seeds being sown within us. It didn’t matter to her that the weekly two-mile walks each way contributed to wearing out our church shoes. She viewed the process as a by-product of developing fortitude in us.
